I finally got my heel done…I went back to the only short-row method that has ever (kind of) worked for me, which is this one.
I hate putting all the pins in, but it’s the only method where I can actually tell where the damn gap is!

The only thing cooler than mac’s dashboard is the fact that I can now post from it, due to WordPressDash!
No pictures (other than links) from what I can tell, but still awesome!
Apparently I am completely and totally incapable of making a proper short-row heel.
I am working on socks for my mom’s birthday at the moment (which, by the way, is the second of next month, and I just started today. Don’t be shocked if I forget your birthday too.) and I tried, once again, to make a short-row heel. And once again, I failed miserably. I have tried every freaking method of short rows and I just. don’t. get. it. I am hereby a complete knitting failure. I just had a rip-my-hair-out, scream-at-the-poor-significant-other type moment when I was trying to close up the sides of the heel. I had a severely uneven number of open stitches on each side, which should have been a sign, but I trudged on…until I dropped one of those stitches and it ran as fast as its little bastard stitch ass could run and hid inside all the other closed-up stitches.
That was the last straw. In a string of awesomely colorful and choice words, I ripped the whole heel out in one big tangled mess. Obviously that didn’t help me because I’m on here, pissed off as a wet cat, screaming about it to all you guys. I give up!!!! What the hell am I doing wrong? I have a feeling my problem lies in the fact that I can never tell where the damn gap is…OH and to top it all off…I knocked over a can of root beer all over the floor and all over my new Vogue Knitting. And I also found out that wordpress just plain hates Safari, and that I’m going to have to start using Firefox (yuck) to edit/publish all my posts now, unless I’m partial to posts that are one big annoying block instead of separate paragraphs >:O
*rips all her hair out*
So although the Alpaca Convention wasn’t as awesome as we expected today, we did manage to score some Suri top! It’s pretty much the softest thing ever…

So I got straight to work spinning Dani some laceweight!

I managed to make myself work on Chris’s socks for a little while today…they’re about a month overdue now, and still not done. And I’m really regretting doing a flap heel – not looking forward to doing this second one.

I balled the finally-dry Knitpicks yarn I dyed the other day, and I’m trying to decide what to make with it – any ideas? I love the colors!

Dani insists that I have a blog, so here I am. Let’s see, what’s new? I learned to Navajo ply at 2am the other morning…the result of which is this:

More things I’ve spun lately…

And I dyed this today (I didn’t spin it though, it’s Knit Picks Bare Worsted that Dani gave me because she’s awesome).

Anyway! I met Dani not that long ago and now we’re BFFs…and she insists that life is not worth living without a blog. We shall see. She was right about Knit Night, so I’m giving her crazy ideas some thought.
